House Hunting

Sorry I forgot to post a picture yesterday. I got busy with other things and it just slipped my mind.

I hope today's picture will make up for it though. I went house hunting this afternoon, one of my favorite weekend activities, and when I found this neighborhood called Cyprus Lake, I couldn't resist getting a picture of pinkening sky in reflection of the aforementioned lake.

Ross Barnett Reservoir

Today I stopped by the Reservoir Outlook. The view was recommended to me by some people I met recently.

The view was really nice, unfortunately it didn't come out too well in the photo. It's the perfect place for a sunrise or sunset viewing though. I'll try to get back there one of these days to give you a look.

School Days

School is back in session here in Jackson.

This is the local high school for Ridgeland residents. Somehow it reminds me of a Disney Hotel, and not a nice one either! I'd say the architecture rates right up there with the Santa Fe. The name of the school is even Olde Towne School. Distinctly Disney sounding.

Jackson State University

I visited Jackson State today to enroll in German 101.

Unfortunately, you have to jump through quite a few hoops just to take one simple class. The campus is nice though. They are investing quite a lot in new buildings, so things are expanding. I think that's a good sign for a university.

Job Op?

I know this has nothing to do with natural beauty, but I couldn't resist.

This is actually considered a good wage, considering that federal minimum wage is $5.85 per hour. In fact, this is more than the cafe at Starbucks offered me a few months ago!

Maybe I should consider a career in burger flipping... I wonder if they would make special considerations for vegetarians.

Fishin' Hole

You know it's hot in Mississippi when the local fishing hole is nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon!

This place is usually teeming with fishers, all looking to take home a tasty treat for dinner. Temperatures were in the 100s today, so the fish hookers were probably at home trying to beat the heat. Perhaps I'll try my hand at hooking and reeling one of these days, but only once the temps have dropped.
