A photographic look at life in Jackson, Mississippi and the surrounding area
Happy Earth Day!
In honor of Earth Day, I thought I would post the first magnolia blossom of the year. They are such beautiful and fragrant flowers. I love living in the Magnolia State!
When I was young and foolish (but having loads of fun), I used to order a drink at the Palmer House in Chicago that had a floating magnolia...Now I appreciate the flower for having other properties.

The magnolia trees sure are green around here, but no blossoms yet. Very pretty.
une superbe fleur pour rendre hommage a cette journée de la terre.
a beautiful flower to pay tribute to this day the earth.
Just beautiful. Always reminds me of the American south.
What a huge and great flower, thanks for sharing

beautiful shot, i really like this... and happy belated earth day!
Great photo. I have not checked the magnolias around here, but I didn't realize they bloomed so early.
I think it is a little strange that this tree was blooming already. The poor plants must be very confused with all the weather we've had this year!
This tree only had two blooms and I haven't seen any others blooming yet. I hope to add a small bush-like magnolia to my yard.
