Resting

Okay, my blog has still gone to the birds! But this guy was not a visitor to my backyard resto. I saw him this weekend at the Sawgrass Recreation Center outside Fort Lauderdale. My husband has never visited the Everglades, so I took him on an airboat tour. The center also included exhibits of alligators (what else!), snakes, birds and even a panther! All-in-all it was quite interesting.

PS: My camera is scheduled to be delivered today back from the repair shop! It will be right on time for our upcoming trip to Hawaii - we're leaving this Friday. I'm really glad to have my camera back for the trip. The one I've been using doesn't have a wide-angle lens and it really makes such a difference. I also bought an underwater camera so hopefully we'll get some shots of the sea turtles and colorful fishies. Exciting times ahead!

I didn't think this bird would find its way to your yard. Hope you had fun in Ft. L. We lived there over 20 years and never did go on an airboat ride!

We shall certainly look forward to some spiffy Hawaii shots - especially now that you'll have your good camera back!

Bon journey!

Olivier: Parrots require a lot of attention. I would love to have one, but I don't think I have enough time to devote to a pet.

Jacob: I used to live in Port Saint Lucie. I think the boat ride in the Everglades National Park was nicer, but this one was closer. And still very good!

uncertainhorizon: Thanks for the wishes! It looks like you've been traveling some too!

The birds are fun, thanks for posting them! I know you'll have a great time in Hawaii. As a total amateur, I've taken underwater housings for my non-SLR cameras to Hawaii either 2 or 3 times, and it is such fun! I even got a a few pix that are usable :) They're all good memories, though, whether good pix or bad.

LOL, I was thinking if this is in your backyard and there are more of them you are rich, get a net.

But of course, I could never catch them and put them in a cage.

What a difference with the your 'free' birds. He's beautiful, but it is strange now to see a bird caged, even if he probably fares better than most of his free friend...
Cangratulations for your new camera and for the old one coming back.

Sounds like an interesting exhibit. Any pics of the snakes, alligators and panther? :)

Great timing on the camera! I'm so happy for you.

Tapirgal: I thought about buying an underwater housing for my camera, but it actually costs more than an underwater camera! And I wasn't sure if I'd have it back in time for the trip. Now I'll have two options - so no excuses for missed photo ops!

Hilda: I got a few pics of the alligators. The panthers were not posing well. I'll post the gators on my other blog soon.

He's so cute! I love it when they sit on one foot like that. How exciting that you are going to Hawaii! I can't wait to see pictures, especially the underwater ones.

Niether «Louis» nor Mme la Vache are complaining about your blog having "gone to the birds". Fact is, we've enjoyed it! ;-)
