Biloxi Light

The famous (or so I'm told) structure that sits right in the middle of the main beach drag in Biloxi. It survived Katrina and is featured on the Mississippi license plate. It's also apparently a nice place to stop for a read.

Happy Friday everyone! Click on the skywatch link to see more skies from around the world.

Sylvia: Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I came to Mississippi for a simple reason... my wonderful husband got transferred here. It's different from Paris, but life here is good. :)

Beautiful shot. I also love lighthouses, maybe partly because there are none within hundreds of miles of me.

«Louis» appreciates this - he's always been fascinated by lighthouses.

LOL at your comment at Fabius, MI re how your husband suddenly found himself assigned all the yardwork...

Believe me, it is famous! I know this from a booklet on the most beautiful lighthouses in the world where it fugures with the one of Cape Hatteras and few other from the States!

I have a fondness for lighthouses. As a child living in a house on the shores of Lake Michigan, the mournful sound of the foghorn was a welcome sound to me. Love them all and have a book on the lighthouses in the US.

That last sentence just made me smile.

It's an elegant lighthouse and your photo is beautiful!

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Who knew the Biloxi Light would generate so much interest?

Hilda: If you enlarge the photo, you'll see a woman sitting on the steps reading. I thought it sort of an odd spot, but I guess she liked it!

Nice structure, it looks freshly painted and it does look like a great place to read a few pages.

Several of you guys commented about seeing the view from the top and the woman on the stairs. That is my wife and we are the lighthouse keepers for the biloxi lighthouse. We polish the lens, check the bulbs, and decorate it for holidays. We are both active duty Air Force stationed at Keesler AFB. The city has it open every day except for sunday, Amanda and I give tours every saturday.
