This is the old railway bridge connecting the gulf cities of Biloxi and Ocean Springs. I'm not sure if the bridge is still in use or not. There is a turning portion to allow for ships to pass through, but it was always open when we drove past.
Please visit Louis from San Francisco to see more bridges from around the world.

That's a very long bridge! I have never seen one like this!
J'adore ! Super ce pont !
It's a beautiful bridge! I hope you are OK after the horrible weather yesterday. We are having some bad thunderstorms this morning.
Lois: The tornado touched down about 40 miles northwest of where I live in Yazoo City. It's part of the delta and many of those communities are struggling financially already so I hope they will be able to rebuild quickly. Hope you don't get any twisters in Florida!
It's pretty dark and scary here right now. I'm glad you are OK! I hate this kind of weather.
Didn't this bridge get damaged during Katrina? Very nice photo! But I'm wondering how one gets between the two cities now - probably a long, roundabout route, right?
This is a marvelous shot! I love the tree, the bridge, the water, the sky...
Jacob: This is the railway bridge. I don't think it was hurt during the hurricane. The automobile bridge was destroyed and a new one was built in record time. I'll show that one next week. :) I can't put all of my bridges in one basket!
I have the Mississippi in my shot today but this is a great one!
Oops! I should have know that...I just remembered seeing photos of the bridges in that area, most of which got hit pretty bad. I'd like to see the new one!
Alright! You just reminded «Louis» of a similar bridge across the lower portion of the San Francisco Bay. He'll have to try to get a photo of it for the Sunday Bridge series. He thanks you for the inspiration!
«Louis's» linked it!
I'm very sorry ... but I've been thinking of you re the tornadoes and then forgot to ask you...it sounds like you were about 40 miles away...hopefully you missed the worst of it...
that must be fun to ride in a train over a bridge like this.
Scenery of the eternity is splendid.
And a blue sky is beautiful.
Thank you for showing a wonderful view.
The bridge is probably left open to accommodate the larger crafts that routinely go through, esp. if it's not in use right now.
Tornados are always scary; I dread that season here in MN, too.
Oh the Gulf coast is just the very best place to be isn't it. I love it.

Bridges are always great. I love that loop in the tree, too.
