Ug Mug

This cafe/ice-creamery is just next to a Newk's where my husband and I sometimes go for lunch. It seemed like it took forever for the place to open and then before we even had a chance to try it, it was closed. It has a nice facade, hopefully some other business will take over quickly.

I am flying out to Germany today so JDP will be on auto pilot until my return. I am turning off the comment moderation since I won't be using iPhone over there and my MiL only has slow internet, so I'm not sure how much I'll be online.

Note to all Chinese porn spammers, hawkers of replica Gucci goods and viagra sellers: your comments will be deleted upon my return.

I like the name of the shop. Too sad it has never been open

Nice shot of the building. In this economy... crap happens!

So many high hopes, all gone! Wonder what happened. It is a nice building, though.

Again, hope you have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for dropping by my blog! Yes, our one and only kitty is an indoor cat. Phew!

I love this old building--and the skies behind are just spectacular!

I like their name too! I guess it's hard to start a business in this bad economy. I hope you have a wonderful trip!

This is actually a brand new building. It was constructed just for this business. Hope they find someone to rake over.

PS: it's in a dry county so a bar is not an option! ;)

Something I learn from these businesses: done is better than perfect. Sometimes they sink so much money into a lengthy renovation or fixtures, they can't stay afloat the many months of loss most businesses have to work through to start gaining ground and making a profit. In this economy, so many wonderful hard working people with high hopes are finding it impossible to keep the doors open. It does look lovely, especially against that blue sky!

Hal, you've asked about the monotone effect on a couple of my shots. Yes, it is an effect, but a simple few tools in Flickr's free editor, Picnik. I manipulate the curves and then apply the monochrome to all or part of the photo. Hope that helps solve the mystery :-). I don't often use an effect or mess with anything, so when I do it is noticeable, eh?
Have a great weekend!
