Grass Snake

I don't really know what type of snake this is, but he seemed to enjoy my lawn. He was lifting up his head to get some sun. His head is on the left side, just in case you can't tell.

I was out chasing a viper a few weeks ago, but it decided not to pose for the nutty photographer!

I don't know which brand this snake is, but snakes can be very good critters...we had a lot of them at our house in Ocala...mostly black/garter snakes. However, small rattlers have been seen here in Stone Creek, so I try to be careful when chasing golf balls in the rough - which, I'm sure you realize, is a very rare occasion! ;-)

Hmmm. I'm not fond of snakes but at least I know it's not in MY lawn. :)

Hi! Re The Villages...there are something like 25-30 golf courses in The Villages...most of them are of the "executive" variety which residents can play "free" (more or less) and now there are about 10 major golf courses, including one by Nancy Lopez and another by Arnold Palmer -- they cost money to play and it is very difficult to get a tee time on them.

wow! great catch Halcyon. he looks like a gentle snake too.

This guy was just a common garter snake, nothing dangerous. :)

In fact, I think he was more scared of me than I ever was of him. He scrambled away pretty quickly.

That's funny, I just got a snake out of the garage for my parents!

Not a snake fan myself. I never would have come close enough to know which end was which.

I can't see it at first, but he's there...

I almost stepped on one just like that about a month ago in my backyard. I've seen a lot more snakes in my yard this year that usual. Unfortunately I haven't had my camera with me when I've seen them!
