I got a few shots of this juvenile red-headed woodpecker at my feeder. They start out in black-and-white and later their head feathers molt into that beautiful, bright red. Eventually he'll look like this.

belle lumiere et beau contre jour sur cet oiseau
Very nice PoV on this bird
They seem so unreal to me. Great close up
We've had an overabundance of these little guys this year, as well.
this is up close and personal. great shot
I clicked on your link to see the adult. What a beautiful bird!
As you say it's hard to believe the transformation to that gorgeous adult. Aren't birds brilliant?
Wonderful pictures of this woodpecker!
I wouldn't tell this is a red-headed juvenile. Now I know what they look like. :-)
They are lovely birds,aren't they?
i need to get me one of these cameras! i love the shots you get with it!
I am not so good distinguishing between birds, but your pictures got me somewhere nearer to that!
Incredible how it changes into adulthood.
They are less colorful when they are young so they won't be as vulnerable to predators.
Mother nature is a pretty smart lady. :)
They are rascally birds. We had a few that pecked palm trees just outside our window. Drove us nuts for awhile.
Re your comment on Florida Fotos: They tried that teaching old dogs new tricks thing on me once. Didn't work.
I think I like the adult version best; don't trust any bird without a red head!
Fun. Yes, he will be GORGEOUS!
It´s so cute!
Very cool - I hadn't seen the juvie colors before this.
Lucky you to get such a sweet close-up shot. :D
It is always nice to get photos of the juvies. :)
Nice shot of the youngster Halcyon! I guess the parents are teaching the juvie where to get the good stuff!
We love woodpeckers here at our place. No juveniles this year, unfortunately. I did once have the same feeder as you, but the raccoons tore it apart in just a couple of days. <:\
