Blue Doorway

This is the doorway into the old Madison Station elementary school. I peeked into a few of the windows and it's really a shame this building is not in use anymore. It's just next to the old high school which has been converted to a "cultural" center.

Maybe one day these buildings will truly find a new use. I hope so!

j'espère qu'ils serviront encore, pour une association, c'est bête de laisser inutilisé des bâtiments

Blue always catchs one's eye, doesn't it. Old buildings often can be redesigned for other uses, and I hope one can be found for this one. There's gotta be lots of psychic energy in there!

looks like grade school doors, entrance way to hell. I can picture kids standing on the other side waiting for the bell to ring ending the school day.

Gee, that looks like what I would have called a "new" school when I was a student. Guess that was a looonngg time ago.

We live in a disposable society! In other countries they would
re-do and keep using buildings like this. I hate seeing buildings no longer in use.

Hopefully someone can put the building to use... I like the glass bricks in the sides of the entry :)

Of course they will. I have always been a bit suspicious about cultural centers. The concept sounds artificial and somewhat "from-above".

Per: You've hit it right on the head. Our mayor wants to keep up appearances that my town is up with the culture. But she doesn't actually want any cultural groups (i.e. the local theater) using this space. :S

Jack: I also think this building does not look that old. But my town (Madison) has spent a lot on new schools, so these old ones just fall by the wayside.

I always forgot this doorway thing, and I like the theme very much!

Reminds one indeed of the smell the floor did have during the morning lessons ... and yes, it would be wonderful to see it being brought back into life.

Please have a wonderful Thursday.

It looks to be in good condition...surely someone will come up with a way to put it to good use!

Nice to hear from you. Re Yugos and such: I'm thinking that the Yugo simply means too much for B Squared to trade it in...he may make it into a lawn ornament.

Re the mayor and her two-faced stance on the "cultural center": this is what give politicians the bad name they so richly deserve...
