Cardinal

I believe this is a young brother going through his first molt. That red is coming out quite nicely though!

To see more birds, check out Bird Freak.

Through this post of yours, I just learned about the bird meme. Wow! something for everybody.

I saw a peacock yesterday who looked shabby. Must be moulting! Great close up of a cardinal you have here!

The Cardinals have been looking awful! I photographed one with just one feather sticking up in his crest!

He's going to be a handsome bloke.

I'm not a "bird freak," but I certainly enjoy the birds that come to our feeders. Last week I watched aggressive cardinals chase away other birds who had come to eat, and then carefully tend to their family, eating and feeding the adolescents. Great fun to watch.

Oh my, isn't he sweet looking and very red. I like Cardinals---mostly because we don't have them out here. MB

This is such a nice photo of a cardinal, which I find very elusive in my gardens. Nice to see this friendlier one.

Quite different from the cardinals in Rome!

Rambling Round: This photo was taken with my Wingscapes camera. It has a motion sensor and takes photos of the birds as they stop and pose. I did have it on the ground for this shot. The birds have been enjoyig my water bowl during the recent drought.

That is such a beautiful bright little bird. I've just been reading about the Wingscapes bird cam and it looks very interesting.

That young 'un is truly a bright red. I wonder what kind of nickname he'll get? Can't call everyone "Red" that's for sure.

It's a conundrum!

Gads, they look horrendous in molt, don't they? Fortunately the process doesn't take TOO long!
