Goddess Durga's idol in one of the Indian festivities in Jackson. The name "Durga" symbolizes divine female power in Hinduism.

This image surprised me when I saw it on your blog. If you have Indian festivities you must have a sizable Indian population in Jackson...am I right? Durga is another of the many Indian gods and goddesses. Hinduism is an interesting religion! The detail on your photo is super.

@Kate: There are not many Indians but enough to have some of these festivities once in a while.

@Halcyon: This is not from the temple. It was a private function in a clubhouse. The Priest is not supposed to allow anyone to take pictures of the idols in the temple.
