Weed or Wildflower?

This flower began growing in my yard a few weeks ago. I purposely did not cut it down because I was curious to see what it would look like in bloom. After a weekend away, I returned to find this three foot monster! It is not the prettiest of flowers, but the yellow is nice and sunny.

Anyone here happen to know what kind of plant it is? I'll probably cut it down soon as it appears to be more weed-ish than wildflower-y.

Thank you for your visit.

I have no idea what they are, but they look nice with lots of blooms. It looks too perfect - kind of like an artificial boquet stuck in the ground. Did you check it for a plastic stem and a $2.99 tag?

I heard something about KU - but am not into sports, and have no clue what their recent triumph is about.

It's very pretty and happy-looking...but I have no idea what it is.

That is a magnolia in front of that home. A former Memphian follows my blog and asked me to take a photo of their childhood home...it was a fun request to fulfill.

Hope you're having a good week.

Looks very daisyish!

If that is a weed...then I would like a bunch of them around my place.

I am sure it is part of the daisy family.

Ok, ok... maybe I won't cut it down. Yet.

I will continue to bask in the glory of the Jayhawks' triumph over Memphis in the NCAA basketball tournament. :D

Looks kind of like a cross between a sunflower and dandelion. It appears to be a weed, but, hey, one man's weed is another man's blossom.

Wow, everything about this photograph is nice. If I had to choose a pretty post that really made me feel good, this one would be it. I love flowers, especially yellow ones.

Please, whatever you do, don't visit my blog today (Wednesday) as I lost my mind, I think owing to medicine from my hospital stay, and posted some really gross stuff. I certainly don't want to spoil your day.

My guess is tansy ragwort - see

I do believe you are right. I guess the tansy will have to go.

Great pic. I like this flower, weed or not! I'll tell you what, rather than cutting it down or rooting it out I will come and try to cultivate it for you. That will kill it in a few days! Just about any plant I try to grow dies ;)
