Alarm Bird

Before every storm this little mockingbird sits on the rood of my house and sends out the alarm to all the other birds in the area. Usually when I come outside and look he flies away. But I guess Sunday night's warning was so urgent he wasn't even daunted by my presence.

We have a lot of birds living in the old trees in my neighborhood. I certainly hope none of them lost their nests in the storm. That would really be a shame.

c'est bien, si les oiseaux peuvent prévenir a l'avance les événements météorologiques.

Great picture. I grew up with this bird, loved them.

I 've always wanted to see one of these cute birds. Lovely silhouette.

Very nice silhouette of the tree and the bird against the grey sky.

So there must be mixed thoughts and feelings when you hear this bird performing its task.

Is the storm over? I hope nothing got damaged in your house and neighborhood.

we used to have a bird that would terrorize the outdoor cats - chirping and getting their interest, then dive bombing them and pecking at them as he swooped down!

Hilda - the big storm is over but we've still been having lots of mini-storms all week. A few branches came down in my yard but didn't hit anything. I feel really lucky. In the last big storm we had one of my neighbor's trees fell down. Luckily it went towards the road and not on anyone's house!
