Hal and Mal's is a restaurant/venue in downtown Jackson. They have a couple of performance spaces for comedy acts, local and regional bands and sometimes plays! My husband and I stopped by last week to check out a new short play written by a local author. It was quite a show - it dealt with the very serious issue of spousal abuse, but in a touching and funny way. It was both wonderful acting and writing!
PS: A Few Good Men (the play I auditioned for a few weeks ago) has been canceled, due to (ahem) the lack of a few men, good or otherwise.

j'aime bien cette vieille enseigne délavée. de belles couleurs
LOL about the lack of a few good men! But sad, too. I'm sorry that you won't get to do it. Couldn't a few good women have taken the man parts?
The director did think of cross casting a few of the roles. But there are some that can't be changed and she just didn't get enough men in the right age range. Ah well... gives me more time to work on my golf!
This looks like a great place! Sorry about the play being canceled.
Methinks I'd enjoy Hal & Mal's a lot! Sorry about "A Few Good Men." That so often seems to be the case!
Ah la gente masculine qui fait défaut... C'est dommage. J'aime beaucoup cette photo, les murs en brique se prêtent bien à ce type d'enseigne peinte. Le lieu est-il aussi ancien que le laisse supposer la peinture délavée ?
I think the paint has been washed to give it an old feel. Hal and Mal's has been there for some time, but not since antiquity!
I think this building was an old warehouse or something before becoming a resto/venue.
A disappointing cancellation!
As for the short play, this is the magic of theater. Serious and sensitive issues can be addressed in a touching and funny way. Laughter and tears, it doesn't get any better than that. Almost like life itself.
Where have all the good men gone?
I was just happy with your post then the PS disappointed me: I'm very sorry for this...
PPS: This photo was also a contendor for the August night shot. But I didn't think it looked "night-ie" enough.
HA!!! A few good men is indeed hard to find.

I love the look of signs painted on brick... we have many old buildings here in Rochester, NY painted with severely faded ads from decades gone, and I long for those again (much preferred over billboard style ads). And the faded look of Hal and Mals looks great (intentional or not).
Maybe I have to stop by here a bit more often, but you're an actress!? Too bad the show was cancelled. Shortage of men in Jackson? Looks like the place for single guys, huh!?
I'll stay here and admire my shiny gold band.

Finding a few good men...the quest of the ages. Sorry about the cancellation.
I love this sign!
