My husband and I finally made it to the Germanfest this year. The past two years, it has been the same weekend as the Viking Classic (the PGAs only stop in Mississippi) so we chose golf over beer and bratwurst. But I'm really glad we went this year.
It was not a large festival and I think my husband was probably the only authentic German there, but people seemed to be having a great time. Bales of hay were provided as seating, but some others brought their own chairs. This guy is obviously a Deutschophile - I just had to get a sly picture of him with his flag and the hat with all the real Oktoberfest flare.
Check back tomorrow for another look at Germanfest.

Better get a pair of lederhosen.
We don't seem to think alike, I would never chose golf over beer and bratwurst. Glad you decided to go this year. Skål!
I agree with Steffe...
To be fair, the beer was only Budweiser (the American kind). If it had been real German stuff, I might have made more of an effort the previous years. :)
Fancy walking around with a Schwarz-Rot-Gold! Sorry, sitting with one. Nice shot! If the beer was Bud, were the Würste at least the real stuff?
These kinds of events can be great fun...but isn't this supposed to occur in October? I hope there was lots of good German beer available!
Interesting a German fest, the bellies of the people look German.. ;)
Jacob: They offered Bud, Bud Lite and Budweiser American Ale. Really typical German stuff!
When Mercedes Benz built their production facility in Tuscaloosa, our annual CityFest added a German Weindorf section. Not sure how authentic it was, but people had fun I'm sure. Unfortunately, a couple of years of bad weather and bad revenues put an end to CityFest.
