East Meets West

Last weekend my husband and I cooked up a delicious dinner. I made the lentil daal with a tomato garnish and my husband made the fresh spaetzle. Delicious!

I don't usually eat breakfast, and I know this isn't a breakfast dish, but it's morning and this delicious dish is making me hungry.
Yum

I don't know what a spaetzle is (daal, I know) but this sure looks yummy! Thank goodness I've just had dinner…

That looks tasty and nice!
I love just soup and bread when it is cold and winter...

I could use a little of that right now; it's still too cold out for me. Does your husband have a spaetzle sieve, or whatever it's called. I made some for our German theme Christmas dinner and they actually turned out as dumplings.

Hilda: Spaetzle is an egg and flour pasta dish that is popular in the south of Germany. My husband's grandmother was from Stuttgart and she taught him how to make the noodles.

Kate: We do have the spaetzle sieve or whatever it's called. I always thought it was a potato masher. Guess that shows how many times we've used it together. :) Dumplings are also good though.

Maybe I'll show the "making-of" the spaetzle tomorrow.

I'd love to see what the Spaetzle sieve or whatever it's called looks like. Can you manage that or send me a photo offline to my email acct? The address is on my profile. Have a good day!!

I'm not sure what you're talking about ("daal," "spaetzle) 'cause I'm a bit ignorant about foods...but it looks very good!

I can boil an egg, though!

I have probably eaten something like spaetzle in Germany, and it was good! Love your combination either, and it's dinner time here now!
