Unidentified Visitor

I found a new visitor to my yard on the Wingscapes! I think he's a young goldfinch. But if anyone can identify, please let me know. He's certainly a pretty and welcome visitor!

I agree - male one.

Yes, gotta be the male since in the animal kingdom all the birds with beautiful plumage are males. Hmmm! Doesn't seem fair. Glad it's the reverse among us humans!

It's not Superman.

It's not a plane.

It must be a boid...

Yes that's a goldfinch! He looks like he is in the process of getting rid of his winter plumage and getting his bright yellow spring plumage. I have had flocks of these little guys at my feeder for the past month and they are just starting to turn from drab grayish brown to bright yellow. I think they will be heading north soon :(

I wouldn't know a goldfinch from a golffinch...but I do like the way that camera gets these photos!

...and I'm with Jacob on this one. A pretty fellow, with or without positive id...

I was hoping to see him in his more colorful phase. But it sounds like he's just stopping by for a rest on his way north. Maybe Abe in brookville will see him later!

I'm not good with juveniles.

Looks like a goldfinch. You know, they are not as colorful in the winter.
