A photographic look at life in Jackson, Mississippi and the surrounding area
New Friend
I believe this friend is a hairy woodpecker, but I'm not certain. I've never seen a woodpecker like this one at my feeder before. I hope he'll be back!
I love the woodpeckers too! And I was really excited to see someone different. There are alot of red-headed woodpeckers in my area. (They love those big pines). And every once in awhile I see a red-bellied brother too. But never one like this guy! Hope he comes back so I can get a better picture.
He is beautiful! I hope he'll come back, too. We don't have a shoe tree in Astoria, either. We had to drive way out into the desert and accidentally found that one. Nobody seems to know what that one is about. I sort of wonder if it's supposed to advertise the town of Mitchell.
That is Harry Woodpecker! I recognized him right off!
Cute!
I'll get back to you on your photo/blog/camera comments/questions...I was going to say we weren't shopping, but then I remembered we did stop at a couple of stores after dinner tonight!

bonne idée la video, il est tres beau
As he had commented before, both «Louis» and especially Mme la Vache enjoy the bird images you frequently post and this one is no exception.
The Woodies are my favorite.

He is a handsome bird! I've never seen one come to my feeders before, but I do have a lot of them in the trees in my backyard.
I like the woodpeckers too! I've heard and seen from afar but this is the closest I've seen one :)
Hey E,
Check out pileated woodpecker. I think yours is one of those. That was the bird that was the inspiration for Woody!
Love,
Mum
I have never seen a real woodpecker...
Mais tu as un véritable zoo d'oiseaux chez toi !

Could be the hairy type. Not sure. I did go see my barber today but... no, the style is sort of different.
