Strange Bug

A strange looking insect I found on one of my pots. He was not disturbed at all by my constant clicking. I'm glad the weekend is almost here. I'm still trying to think of something fun for the August theme day though.

I agree with the wasp theory.

That's a mutant fly that can devour a whole plant in one hour! They're gonna make a movie about it soon. I think it will be called "DC Big Oil Lobbyist."

Regarding your comment:

Pillory is the translation of the portuguese word 'pelourinho' that consists of a stone column where people were tied for public punishment and humiliation. You can see them at the main square of almost all old towns in Portugal (and Brazil). Despite the awful practice, some of them are truly beautiful stone works.
However if you look for the english definition of pillory you'll find: "a device formerly used for publicly punishing offenders consisting of a wooden frame with holes in which the head and hands can be locked".

I am a bit more trigger happy with strange bugs around my plants, they got sprayed quickly...

The leaves on the plant almost look like little bugs!

This is a mint plant that went through some rough times during the recent heat wave. It comes back in a jiff once you cut off the dead stuff. I've already got new mint leaves coming out.
