We have some fledgling cardinals in our yard these days. Daddy never lets his charges stray too far though. He always keeps a watchful eye over his brood.

magnifique cardinal. il portera chance a l'equipe de Foot Us
Beautiful birds- too bad we don't have them out West. I love your "birdfeeder cam".
He looks like he means business! I have had so many cardinals this year and they seem to be a much brighter red that usual. I love watching the fledglings too.
hee hee...
Indeed, he seems to have a stern countenance, telling us to keep our distance!
Great!!
We have some Red-winged Blackbirds by the pond and the papa is a stern guardian too.
I wish we had Cardinals out this way. MB
What a handsome cardinal. He's keeping his eye on you!
Il a l'air bien méchant avec ses sourcils en bataille :-) heureusement qu'il y a les papas !
I really like this one: picture, caption and title!
Getting right in his face, are you? They're tough birds so you better be careful.
Which reminds me, I saw what I think was a relatively small meadowlark chasing a huge crow yesterday! Funny!
It's really a wonderful photo.
Cool shot! The father looks pretty stern to me Halcyon.
What a face!
Wonderful father! :-)
Have been in Santa Fe for two weeks and have not seen even on cardinal. They're all over MN, but not here. The other birds make up for their absence, tho!
Great photo - I love watching parents with newly fledged youngsters.
BTW, I had to go back and re-read the title of the post. I thought it said "protective feather"
He is a very stout expression.
Thank you for visiting my blog.
From the Far East.

I agree with Larry and SRQ...this guy is definitely keeping an eye on you with a priceless look.
