Protective Father

We have some fledgling cardinals in our yard these days. Daddy never lets his charges stray too far though. He always keeps a watchful eye over his brood.

Beautiful birds- too bad we don't have them out West. I love your "birdfeeder cam".

He looks like he means business! I have had so many cardinals this year and they seem to be a much brighter red that usual. I love watching the fledglings too.

Indeed, he seems to have a stern countenance, telling us to keep our distance!

Great!!
We have some Red-winged Blackbirds by the pond and the papa is a stern guardian too.
I wish we had Cardinals out this way. MB

Getting right in his face, are you? They're tough birds so you better be careful.

Which reminds me, I saw what I think was a relatively small meadowlark chasing a huge crow yesterday! Funny!

Have been in Santa Fe for two weeks and have not seen even on cardinal. They're all over MN, but not here. The other birds make up for their absence, tho!

Great photo - I love watching parents with newly fledged youngsters.

BTW, I had to go back and re-read the title of the post. I thought it said "protective feather"
