Purple Vibrations

New Vibrations is one of those cute boutiques that line State Street as it runs through the Fondren District. It's locally owned and operated. They have lots of neat gifts and handmade jewelry. If you look closely, you'll even see the flower pot with the fake birds!

I attended high school in the Fondren area about 30 years ago, at Woodland Hills. When you post all these lovely pics of Fondren, I don't even recognize it! I do recall the P.O., the donut shop, and of course Everyday Gourmet - AND that horrible strip with the old Capri Theater. What happened to that old theater? Could you post a picture of that?

Hi m.k., I just moved to Jackson a year ago, so I have no reference point for what Fondren may have been in the past. Today it's a lovely artsy part of town that's really trying to bring people back to the city. It seems that most of the shops and people are heading north to Madison.

I will get a picture of the Capri for you. Not sure if it will be this week, but keep checking back. Hope you are enjoying this stroll down memory lane at least! :)

"The purple house in historic Fondren!"

How's that for a catchy phrase. I bet it's interesting on the inside as well.
