Marienskirche

The Marienskirche is the oldest church in Berlin. It is located in the former East, not far from Alexanderplatz.

The church was built in a very simple Gothic style and the interior is very pretty. The only disconcerting thing is the strange "music" that emenates from the trams and underground trains that pass nearby.

So, you're in my neck of the woods right now, so to speak. I haven't made it to Berlin yet, though my spouse has been there many times for work reasons. We're planning a trip there soon and I've heard so much about the area (and seen footage of really neat spaces in the movie Aeon Flux, please don't laugh) I'm really looking forward to it.

Berlin is a great city (and very cheap compared to other European capitols).

My husband is German, so I have an inside track to all the good places. :) Let me know if you need any recommendations!

this church is very beautiful. And yes France has lost, now I'll support the team from Germany.

Ahhh! This blog is up my alley! I was born in Mobile, Alabama but lived in Mainz for 8 years:) It made me smile to see 'Jackson Daily Photo' with pictures from Berlin!

The sounds from the underground and trams must be disconcerting!

"Louis" thanks you for your visit to San Francisco Bay Daily Photo. Regarding your question about the Vespas - "Louis" couldn't catch them to find out what the gathering was about! "Louis" assumes that it was perhaps a function of a Vespa club.

AH ! Great memory !
