Crape Myrtle

My crape myrtle is in bloom. I'm not sure, but it seems to have less blooms than last year. I still think it's quite a beautiful tree though. It's just too bad we only have one in our yard.

Happy Friday everyone!

Beautiful! Is it possible that I have seen this bloom in pink? I am not very good with tree and flowers...

These are all out here, too. Have you ever heard of an allergy to crepe myrtle? I'm having a much harder time with allergy symptoms since they've bloomed...

So that's how Myrtle looks like... I have been to Myrtle beach ones, in SC. I thought it had to do something with one of the gifts the three kings presented.... but it's a flower. Do they smell?

Jacob: I'm sure there is an allergy to crape myrtle. I think anything that produces pollen can cause allergies!

MaCoBra/Vogon Poet: The crape myrtle is a flowering tree/bush. There are light pink, dark pink and white varieties (at least where I live... maybe in other places there are more colors). Nothing to do with Jesus... and unfortunately, they do not have any fragrance. They are quite pretty though!

Supposedly you'll get more blooms if you cut the spend blooms off each year around February. Some people cut all the limbs off every year, but that look has been called "Crepe Murder" by our own Felder Rushing, and I agree--it messes up the patterns of the tree.
