Standard Life

This is a look at the Standard Life building downtown. I'm not sure who actually works in this building anymore - probably not SL. You can also see the King Edward Hotel in the background. It's a historic building that's being (slowly) renovated into apartments and lofts. It should be nice - let's hope it helps revitalize the downtown area!

I think every city has a project going they hope will revitalize an area. We can all hope.

I'm always glad to hear about renovation rather than demolition! These old buildings have so much character.

Very interesting and typical of many cities across the country - things change and old landmarks become something else...

Isn't it interesting that you'd have a building named "King Edward." Who would do that and why? Fascinating.

J'aime bien ce contrejour et le panneau (lumineux la nuit ?) de l'hôtel !

I like the tall, narrow arches in the lower part of the SL building. Makes an otherwise nondescript building more memorable.

The last time they tried to revitalize an area all we got was a new popular nick for our Main Street: 'Misery Street'. I hope you'll better than this!
