New Bridge

Last week I showed you the old railway bridge. And as promised here's a look at the new US Highway 90 bridge that links Ocean Springs to Biloxi. The old road was destroyed during Katrina and they built up this replacement in record time. It's bigger and better as the middle section is high enough for ships to pass through. I believe the old bridge had one of those drawbridge-like mechanisms.

Pour répondre à ta question, le pont de la rue de Crimée se situe dans le XIXè arrdt, entre le Canal de l'Ourcq et le Bassin de la Villette !

Nicely composed! Great colors. Beautiful bridge. More and more of the newly-built bridges are featuring high middle sections...thank goodness.

This shows how wide the Mighty Miss is! Good one, Halcyon, and «Louis» has linked it!

Louis: Thanks for linking. But this isn't the Mississippi River. I think it's the Pearl. It's a mighty river too though!! :)

A nice long bridge.

regarding your comment on my blog: there are around 13,000 residents and the majority work or go to school off island and so have to pass through Stanwood (pop. 5000) so at traffic time the road is bumper to bumper traffic. . It still will be packed I suppose but just being wider will feel better and emergency vehicles will be able to get through. MB

Was the old bridge tall enough for ships to go under? This is definitely an impressive structure!

I guess this is really more of a causeway than a bridge. But it is a neat structure and I'm glad everyone has enjoyed it!

There's a store in NY called Pearl River - wonder if there's any connection. Nice shot, I love bridges.
