Holy Cow!

If you haven't tried Louis La Vache's coffee yet, get your order in toute suite! My husband and I have had such a hard time finding a good roast with a nice European (i.e. strong) flavor. But I think we have it now. We always drink a lovely coffee on the weekends and my husband gave this one the highest compliment "it's very coffee-y". All I said was yummm!!


Next weekend, oatmeal waffles from the Leif Hagen family recipe.

Bridge at the Lovely Hole

Today I'm combining the Sunday bridge series and the weekend reflection series! This is a small footbridge over the lovely hole (number 12 at Colonial golf course). There are so many great views on this hole. I'm just waiting for all the flowers around the edge of the water to bloom. That's going to be really spectacular!

More Signs

I contemplated using this as my theme day post, but these signs aren't really funny. Although I do think they must seem odd to non-Americans. I bought a few bottles of wine here the other day, but honestly I don't think their prices were any better or worse than other liquor stores around town.

It was a long journey for my husband and I down to Key West and back, but despite the travel difficulties we had a great time! I'll be posting some photos on my travel blog. To take a look, click here.

June Theme Day: Signs

I think the name of this shopping "street" is highly pretentious, yet funny. I'm not fluent in Italian (this is from an Italian-themed shopping center), but it seems to be this street is named Curve of the Euro which could be translated to Curve of the Dollar. I'm not sure this was the intention, but the name is apt for a street inside a shopping center!

Bridge over Lakeland Blvd

This bridge connects Saint Dominic Hospital to the Dominican Plaza. Lakeland Drive is one of our busier streets, so hospital personnel and visitors need a safe way to get from one spot to another.

By 7pm most of the traffic has cleared out. It makes for smooth sailing home from my yoga class which meets in the hospital gym at the Plaza.

We had beautiful skies for golf last weekend. It sure is getting hot though! I'm heading off to Key West this afternoon for some fun in the sun this Memorial Day. Let's hope there's no oil on the beaches yet.

Friendly Friends

I saw these cute guys in a shop window. They just look so friendly and cuddly. I can see why any kid would love to adopt one of these dollies to become their new best friend.

Waffle House

My husband and I had breakfast this past weekend at the Waffle House. They do have good waffles and it fortified us for a long, hard day at the golf course!

Chickadee

Finally a decent picture of a chickadee! These little brothers are hard to capture, but this time I got him, complete with a tiny piece of seed in his beak.

Perfect Bedroom

Another nice set-up from Ethan Allen. This bed looks especially inviting on a Monday morning. Why are the weekends so short?

Perfect Living Room

My husband and I did some window shopping this weekend. I love the way furniture stores create those "perfect" rooms complete with fake TV and all. This living space comes to you from Ethan Allen.

Bug Reflection

I thought I'd continue on yesterday's bug theme. The Halcyon Bug had to go in for some service last week. While I was waiting for the shuttle to take me to work, I snapped a few shots. The white bug is inside, the yellow one outside. And the sky was beautifully blue!

Heron on the 12th

I saw this beautiful brother on the 12th hole at Deerfield golf course this past weekend. He was so intent on finding some food, he was not bothered by my snapping a couple of shots. They're usually quite sensitive.

Golf Bench

A bench on the ninth hole at the Colonial Golf Course. You can call in ahead and have your snacks and drinks ready at the turn. Now that's service!

New Friend

I believe this friend is a hairy woodpecker, but I'm not certain. I've never seen a woodpecker like this one at my feeder before. I hope he'll be back!

Rainy Days

It rained on and off all day Saturday. My husband insisted on finishing our round of golf. I abandoned and took some pictures instead. My stuff is still drying out!

Stormy Weather

We've been having a lot of storms and such down here lately. Sometimes I worry about these trees in our yard. I actually had a nightmare during this particular storm that a tree fell on our house. Luckily it was just a dream.

I hope the skies will be blue this Sunday wherever you are!

The Office

I hate to admit it, but my husband and I put in some late nights at The Office during our visit to the Mississippi Gulf Coast a few weeks ago. They were fun nights though!

The Lovely Hole

The poo makers enjoy the lovely hole at Colonial Golf Club. At least they didn't make too much of a mess on my tee. And I can see why they like this hole, it's my favorite too!

Eternal Patrol

This memorial is dedicated to submariners who remain on "eternal patrol" from their service in WWII. It gives me shivers just to think about what that means and these men who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

He's Red, She Said

The 10-Minute Play Festival was a huge success! We had almost every seat in the house filled. Our contribution was very well-received, we got tons of laughs. The story was about three people in the same neighborhood who are convinced their neighbor is a communist. They spy on him through the back yard, only to discover the strange noises emanating from his house were only puppies.

All the plays were good and there was plenty of laughter all night. I'm really glad I participated this year. Maybe next year too!
