Fancy Shopping

The city where I live requires all buildings, residential and commercial to have a brick facade. And all plans must be approved by the city council. Our local Wal-Mart is commonly referred to as the nicest or fanciest looking Wal-Mart you'll ever see. I agree, it is nice on the outside, but it's the same as any other Wal-Mart on the inside.

JDP is on auto pilot until I return from Germany. Enjoy!

Cute Lady

A demure little lady at the feeder. To see more birds, check out Bird Freak.

Hope you are enjoying JDP on auto pilot.

Royal Roses

These are my Queen Elizabeth roses. I love their light pink hue. The darker pink ones I showed you here are Chicago Peace.

I hope you are enjoying JDP on auto pilot. Click on the flowers link to see more flowers from around the world.

Deerfield Bench

Although I typically do not sit down while playing, I will admit to having sat on this bench before. It's a par 3 hole and sometimes you have to wait for the people in front of you to finish up on the green.

I like this hole because it's usually pretty straight-forward for the ladies. You just have to be careful of the water on either side. But I never worry about that, I just hit it straight in the middle!

Hope you are enjoying JDP on auto pilot.

Shoe Depot

Another item on our German shopping list was Crocs. My husband and I checked the Shoe Station, the Shoe Carnival, the Shoe Gallery and finally the Shoe Dept (which my husband mistakenly called the Shoe Depot). Unfortunately the search was not fruitful, we could not find the requested colors in the correct sizes.

I did get a nice reflection shot though. To see more reflections from around the world, click on the reflections link.

I'm in Germany for now. Enjoy JDP on auto pilot in the meantime.

Ug Mug

This cafe/ice-creamery is just next to a Newk's where my husband and I sometimes go for lunch. It seemed like it took forever for the place to open and then before we even had a chance to try it, it was closed. It has a nice facade, hopefully some other business will take over quickly.

I am flying out to Germany today so JDP will be on auto pilot until my return. I am turning off the comment moderation since I won't be using iPhone over there and my MiL only has slow internet, so I'm not sure how much I'll be online.

Note to all Chinese porn spammers, hawkers of replica Gucci goods and viagra sellers: your comments will be deleted upon my return.

Shopping

My husband and I are headed to Germany tomorrow. When our friends know we're coming, they put in a shopping list of stuff that's cheaper to buy here than there. One friend wanted a pair of Converse All Stars for her daughter. I thought these were ultra-cute, she did too so they are now packed away in my giant dragger, ready for take-off.

Der Kuss

I like to see a man who knows how to take care of his lady. Very sweet!

I use the Wingscapes bird camera to take pictures at my feeder. It's weatherproof and has a motion detector to sense when a bird (or squirrel) is at the feeder. It takes a lot of bad pictures, but I get some good ones too. And it's always fun to see who's been at my feeder during the day when I'm at work. To see more of my bird photos, click on the Wingscapes link in the labels section.

Flag Day

A belated salute to Flag Day!

Weekend Treats

After hearing about Leif of Eagan's famous oatmeal waffles, I couldn't wait to try them myself! I once had oatmeal pancakes at Rosie's Cafe in Lake Tahoe and I still remember them to this day as the best pancakes I ever had.

We added blueberries to some waffles and chocolate chips to others. I like mine plain with butter, but we also tried some topped with greek yogurt. They were all tasty! Thanks again Leif for the recipe. We'll definitely have them again.

Golf Bridge

Another bridge from Colonial golf course. This one may not be as picturesque as the lovely hole, but it gets the job done!

Why does Sunday always get here so fast? To see more bridges from around the world, click on the bridges link.

Hidden View

Another view of the lovely hole. Soon all these green grassy things will be blooming flowers. I can't wait!

The weekend is underway, hope you are enjoying it. To see more reflections from around the world, click on the reflections link.

Sunset over the Golf

Another beautiful sky and there's no better time to enjoy it than on a Friday night on the 18th hole of the golf course.

Happy Friday everyone! It's getting hot down here, but hopefully we'll still be able to keep cool and get some golf in. To see more skies from around the world, click on the skywatch link.

Buzz

I believe a family of bees has moved into my bluebird house. I've seen them flying in and out quite a bit lately. At this point I guess I should be happy that anyone lives there! We may have to modify the terms of their mortgage though.

Garden Roses

My roses are looking great this year. Must be all the rain and sunshine we've been having! I just love the deep pink of these beauties.

Beetlebug Yellow!

I saw this one in the parking lot of the Kroger the other day. Another old one to add to my collection!

PS: I have added a new label for VW Bugs in the labels section since I seem to be getting quite a collection of photos of Beetles - old and new.

Holy Cow!

If you haven't tried Louis La Vache's coffee yet, get your order in toute suite! My husband and I have had such a hard time finding a good roast with a nice European (i.e. strong) flavor. But I think we have it now. We always drink a lovely coffee on the weekends and my husband gave this one the highest compliment "it's very coffee-y". All I said was yummm!!

Next weekend, oatmeal waffles from the Leif Hagen family recipe.

Bridge at the Lovely Hole

Today I'm combining the Sunday bridge series and the weekend reflection series! This is a small footbridge over the lovely hole (number 12 at Colonial golf course). There are so many great views on this hole. I'm just waiting for all the flowers around the edge of the water to bloom. That's going to be really spectacular!

Hope you are all having a great weekend! Please click on the bridges link for more bridges and the reflection link for more reflections.

Red Head

Another look at one of my favorite visitors, the red-headed woodpecker. He is certainly a beauty and always welcome at my feeder!

Flowers and Sky

A beautiful, blue sky with some pom pom flowers in the foreground. I could really get used to these short weeks!

Happy Friday everyone. To see more skies from around the world, click on the skywatch link.

More Signs

I contemplated using this as my theme day post, but these signs aren't really funny. Although I do think they must seem odd to non-Americans. I bought a few bottles of wine here the other day, but honestly I don't think their prices were any better or worse than other liquor stores around town.

It was a long journey for my husband and I down to Key West and back, but despite the travel difficulties we had a great time! I'll be posting some photos on my travel blog. To take a look, click here.

Shady Bench

Another bench from Colonial Golf course. This one is shaded by a beautiful crape myrtle. It looks so inviting!

June Theme Day: Signs

I think the name of this shopping "street" is highly pretentious, yet funny. I'm not fluent in Italian (this is from an Italian-themed shopping center), but it seems to be this street is named Curve of the Euro which could be translated to Curve of the Dollar. I'm not sure this was the intention, but the name is apt for a street inside a shopping center!

It's the beginning of a new month, that means it's theme day time! To see what other kinds of funny signs people from around the world have posted click here. I also have a treat for you on my travel blog.

Bridge over Lakeland Blvd

This bridge connects Saint Dominic Hospital to the Dominican Plaza. Lakeland Drive is one of our busier streets, so hospital personnel and visitors need a safe way to get from one spot to another.

By 7pm most of the traffic has cleared out. It makes for smooth sailing home from my yoga class which meets in the hospital gym at the Plaza.

Happy Sunday everyone! To see more bridges from around the world, please click on the bridges link.
