Bye bye Jackson

Today would have been my four year bloggiversary with Jackson Daily Photo. Here's a look at some the last shots I took of my former home back in June.

It is with a heavy heart that I am shutting this photo blog down. Four years ago my then boyfriend (later husband) asked me if I wanted to move from Paris, France to Jackson, Mississippi. I didn't think I could ever enjoy life in the Deep South as much as I did in the Old World, but I did. It was a wonderful place to spend four years and I don't regret the decision we made. Now it's on to Toronto!

Edited to add: After almost three years in Canada, we have moved back to the Old World. Come visit me at my new Berlin Blog.

Multi-Colored Blooms

These are the same kind of flower I showed you on Wednesday, just in a different mix of color.

More Garden Flowers

More beautiful flowers from my garden back in Jackson. I'm not sure what these are called but they come in a variety of colors.

Azaleas

My azaleas were out in full force just before I left Jackson. Looking at my last photos of them is cheering somehow.

Pink Fluffy Thing

I do not recall the name of this shrub, but it's very popular in Jackson - almost everyone has one. They're sort of boring when they're not in bloom, but they look really nice when they get the pink, fluffy blooms!

Sun Facing the Sun

Thanks to my dear friend Halcyon for letting me continue her blog. Hope you all like Jackson through my eyes.

Today's picture is titled "Sun facing the Sun". These pansies look so alive after surviving the harsh weather conditions we had in Jackson over the last few days...so are the people of Jackson...

Bright Beauty

The weather this past weekend was not quite what I hoped for, but we did have some blue skies. These colorful flowers remind me that spring is just around the corner!

Unknown Flora

I don't know what the name of this plant/flower is, but it's very pretty!

Pink Pansies

I spotted these on the Belhaven campus awhile back. It's gotten pretty cold here in Jackson though, so not sure if they have survived our recent frost. I still have the picture to enjoy though.

Flower by the Bridge

A solitary flower grows by the bridge over the lovely hole. I've shown you this bridge before here. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!

Rose of Sharon

We have had a really mild fall so far, it's been it the high 80s most days. Because of that, a lot of flowers are still hanging around which is very nice. I spotted this rose of sharon in the Fondren area this weekend and got a quick shot for you to enjoy. So enjoy!

Cotton Flower

This is what a cotton bowl looks like close-up. I can't imagine what it was like in the old days when people had to pick this stuff by hand. I'm sure there were some bloody fingers.

Fall Roses

I had a bumper crop of roses this year. They bloomed all spring and summer and there are still quite a few buds this far into fall. I really enjoy these beauties.

I am really honored to be this week's guest host at Today's Flowers. I hope you enjoy this collage of some of my best flower shots from over the summer.

September Theme Day: Markets

This is the Freshway Produce stand. I try to buy my fruits and veggies there when I can as I prefer to support local growers, but sometimes it just isn't isn't convenient to shop at two or more places.

As you can see, they offer a lot more than just produce! There are also flowers, jams and jellies, honey, cold drinks... it's a nice place to wander around a bit. And their cantaloupes cannot be beat.

Orange Faces

Some more lovely blooms from the Renaissance shopping center.

Happy Blogiversary!

Today is the third anniversary of Jackson Daily Photo. To celebrate, I've made a collage of 36 of my favorite photos, one for every month I've been keeping this blog up. Feel free to "embiggen" and enjoy.

I'd like to thank all my "readers" and "lookers" out there. When I first moved to Jackson in 2007, I didn't really know what to expect. But I've had a lot of fun discovering this city and sharing it with others through this blog. I certainly hope you've enjoyed this ride as much as I have.

Pink Blooms

I love some good landscaping at the shopping center. This pink blossom comes to you from one of the many planters at The Renaissance. It's a nice place to walk around on a Sunday evening.

Hope you've enjoyed this blossom! To see more flowers from around the world, click on Today's Flowers.

My Neighborhood

The entrance to my neighborhood. This photo was taken back in April when the azaleas were in bloom. Such beautiful flowers, next spring seems so far away!
