Beads a Flying!

I amassed plenty of beads during the parade. We were right on the front row and I was hoping to get a shot of some in mid-air headed towards me. I didn't get that shot, but here's this one.

Groovy Girl

The next installment in the parade series. Groovy girl was having a good time!

Potato Truck

As seen at the Saint Patrick's Day parade. This was one of the funnier floats.

I had to include both shots!

More Garden Flowers

More beautiful flowers from my garden back in Jackson. I'm not sure what these are called but they come in a variety of colors.

Azaleas

My azaleas were out in full force just before I left Jackson. Looking at my last photos of them is cheering somehow.

Flag Man

After Hoopla Girl, you now see Flag Man. He didn't generate the same response from the crowd (open-mouthed gazers), but he was still an interesting figure.

Hoopla Girl

Hoopla girl is the center of attraction of the picture but don't overlook the face expression on the guy standing at the back. :P

Blues Man

The theme of this year's St Patrick's Day Parade was the blues. The Mississippi Blues Commission had this artist out there walking. I don't know his name, but he looks the part of a blues man and I'm sure he plays it well too!

Po in a Row

The Saint Patrick's Day parade is probably the only time you're happy to see a state trooper. I must admit, they looked good on their bikes and did some impressive moves!

Snoop on the Cell

Last night a group of friends (including Halcyon and Dreamer's Click) went to see Snoop Dogg in downtown Jackson. The show didn't disappoint! Here's a look at the artist as captured from Dreamer's Click's cell phone. Good times, good times!

Festive Reflection

Reflection capturing the festive mood of people of Jackson at the St. Paddy's Parade.

Super Moon

This is from the much publicised "Supermoon" day. As seen in Jackson. Looks bigger ? ;)

Pied Piper of Jackson

St. Paddy's Parade at Jackson on Sat. afternoon. I had an opportunity to get some interesting shots during the event.

Leftovers

Some broken beads left on the pavement after Saturday's Saint Patrick's Day parade downtown. It was a lot of fun. But I don't envy those who had to clean up after the shindig!

Flowering Trees

Flowering trees make a beautiful statement in the landscape. I think these are a variety of Magnolia.

Mississippi Veterans Monument

An interesting monument in the heart of downtown Jackson. The inscriptions at the monument to read and reflect is the oath of office which is:

"
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

A mile a day, keeps a smile-on all day :)

For 2010 Mississippi has claimed the title of fattest state for the fifth consecutive year. We don't feel proud to be at the top of this list. With these awareness initiatives floating around, it should all be an uphill ride from here.

Live Music

Amy LaVere at The Fire Club on Sunday 13th, 2011. Nice weather and good Live music! Sunday was amazing!

Tree and Sky

Sunny skies in Jackson! This photo was taken just a few weeks ago, today this tree is almost fully leafed out!

Pink Fluffy Thing

I do not recall the name of this shrub, but it's very popular in Jackson - almost everyone has one. They're sort of boring when they're not in bloom, but they look really nice when they get the pink, fluffy blooms!

Hawthorne Berries

Hawthorne berries also make a nice subject for a macro shot!

Mossy Patch

I was testing the macro settings on my camera. This mossy patch in my backyard was a perfect subject!

More Seeds

A close up on bird seeds. The birds in my yard love it!

Life from a life-less seed

Seed germination is such a fascinating process which manages to surprise even though you expect it. Cheers to my "organic" tomato plants!

Magestic!

This tree caught my eye at the Natchez Trace Parkway. Very unusual and majestic!

A random picture taken from my phone of sunset at old trace park over the weekend.

Saw some nice sunset pictures here.
