Weekend Reflections: A Turtle

I found this guy relaxing on the golf course. I was surprised I didn't see more of his friends. They're usually out sunning all over the place, especially on a nice day!

Happy weekend! To enjoy more reflections from around the world, click on the link above.

Skywatch Friday: Skeleton Trees

We had a beautiful, blue sky last Saturday. Unfortunately, the temps have dropped again and it's been gray this week. But I hope the sun comes back soon.

Click on the skywatch link to see more skies from around the world. I'll be chilling in San Francisco this weekend. Hope yours is a great one too!

Blue Skies

A bluebird under a blue sky, what could be nicer?

Unidentified Visitor

I found a new visitor to my yard on the Wingscapes! I think he's a young goldfinch. But if anyone can identify, please let me know. He's certainly a pretty and welcome visitor!

Mississippi State Bird

The mockingbird has invaded. I know there are plenty in my yard, but I've never seen them in front of the camera before. Just this weekend though, I got a whole series of this guy. I'm actually not super fond of this bird. They can be quite aggressive and territorial. I hope he doesn't chase away my other friends from the feathered squad (tm Stockholm by Pixels).

Weekend Drink

My husband and I stopped at Mint last Friday to get the weekend off to a good start. Naturally, they can make you plenty of drinks with fresh mint! My husband had a mint julep and I tried their refreshing mojito. I hope we can start next weekend off in the same way!

Truitt Memorial Church

The sun casts a tree-full shadow over this church. If you'd like to know more about their history, click here.

Hope you had a great weekend. I actually got to play golf!!

Rue 21, etc.

Finally Jackson has joined the ranks of the fashion elite! We now have our very own Rue 21, Etc. I have been yearning for one ever since I saw it on Ocala Daily Photo. I always knew that Jacob was a fashion-forward, trend-setting sort of guy.

Happy Friday!!

Bug Heaven

My Bug plus two others make this parking lot look almost like a Volkswagen dealership!

Last Look

A last look at the record-setting snow we had last week. It was nice to stay home for a day, but I really hope the cold temps are on their way out. I miss the mild Mississippi winters.

There's still lots to see at Here and There. Don't miss it!

PS: There was still a little bit of Mr. Snowman left in my neighbor's yard this morning. I think he's held out longer than any of the snowpeople in my neighborhood. It's supposed to get up into the 50s (11c) today though, so this is probably his last stand.

Electric Motorcycle

I spent last week in Orlando at a conference for transformers. It sounds pretty boring, but we got to have a little fun too! I took pictures of people on our "SmartChopper" and I got to meet Paul Senior in person, although he's not the wordiest of fellows.

The SmartChopper is a pretty cool bike. There are some downsides though. Since it's all-electric, it doesn't make any noise (which sort of defeats the purpose of a motorcycle) and it can only go around 60 miles per charge (don't take it out for any long rides). It was cool to see it in person.

Mr. Snowman

Almost every kid on my block made a snowman on Friday. This was one of the nicer ones, although I have a suspicion is was actually built by the father. He was still hanging in there on Sunday to say good-bye.

For a look at warmer climes, check out my Hawaii photos at Here and There.

Confidential to Dad: Happy Birthday!!!

More Snow!

Yesterday I showed you the snow view from my front yard. Here's how it looked in my backyard, plus some bonus video.

The snow came down softly and quietly.

But it was already beginning to melt away just a few hours later.

PS: Happy hearts day to all who are celebrating!

Snow in Jackson

It was really a winter wonderland down here in the south yesterday! It was pretty to look at and luckily I got to stay home all day since my office was closed.

Check out warmer times with some Hawaii photos on Here and There.

Big Laughs!

I went to see Boeing, Boeing last Friday at New Stage and it was hilarious! Definitely one of the most entertaining plays I've seen here in Jackson. Everyone was so good - but Peppy Biddy really made the show. The basic story is about a womanizer who has three "fiancees" all of whom are flight attendants. He has his trusted housekeeper to help keep his schedule straight. Everything was under control until an old friend comes to town and all his girls wind up there too. If Boeing, Boeing ever comes to your town, don't miss it!

Happy weekend everyone! I'll be catching up on some sleep.

Yum!

Another look at the beautiful woodpecker who likes to visit my feeder. Does anyone know when the warm weather is coming back?

Gladiolas from the Garden

These red beauties bloomed in my garden last July. I planted one batch of red glads and one batch of pink. Sadly, the pink ones never bloomed. Maybe this year!

There's more Hawaii at Here and There.

White Blossoms

This photo was taken back in August. I'm not sure what kind of flowers these are, but I am hoping to see some blooms again soon! I'm really tired of this cold, wet weather we've been having down here. Hope it blows over soon.

Don't forget to check Here and There for more Hawaii pictures!

Chili Bowl

Congratulations to the Saints for their Super Bowl win. Perhaps they should celebrate with a chili bowl.

Don't forget to stop by Here and There for more Hawaii.

St. Francis of Assisi

I've shown you this church before, but here's another look at the steeple in black and white.

The weather down here has been cold and wet for the last few days. Luckily I'm headed over to sunny Florida again, but this time on business. I'm putting my blog on autopilot for now - enjoy!

And don't forget to head over to Here and There for a look at sunny Hawaii.

Skywatch Friday: Sunset

Another beautiful sunset to take you into the weekend. Hope it's a good one!

And don't forget to check out Here and There for more pictures from my recent trip to Hawaii.

Sad Bug

You don't often see a Volkswagen being towed as they are such reliable cars. And I must admit, it's not really this Bug's fault but its owner's. You see, I did something very, very bad to my sweet, little Bug. I put regular gas in its diesel engine. The best thing I can say is that it didn't get far, but now the engine has to be cleaned and flushed. Hopefully he'll be back up and running soon without any permanent damage.

I miss him though.

More Hawaii photos are on display at Here and There.

Fore!

I remember these days, although they seem long ago. I hope to be back on the course soon!

Don't forget to take a look at my Hawaii photos at Here and There.

I'm Back!

Our cruise through the Hawaiian islands was wonderful!

Unfortunately, we didn't play any golf (it costs a small fortune when you don't have your clubs, etc), but maybe next time as there were so many beautiful courses. I'll be showing more pictures from paradise on my other blog, Here and There.

Skywatch Friday: Florida Golf

A beautiful sky over a Floridian golf course. A nice way to spend a weekend. Happy weekend everyone!

Airboat

You can't visit the Everglades without taking an airboat tour! It was fun, although a bit short.

Auto-pilot mode continues. Aloha!

Everglades Gator

Look closely and you'll see a real, live Florida gator getting some sun.

My blog is on auto pilot until I return from Hawaii. Until then - aloha!

More Birds

A white heron waiting for some free food at the Sawgrass Recreation Park in Fort Lauderdale. I hope you'll enjoy a few photos from my recent trip to Florida. I don't have enough Jackson in the archives!

My blog is on automatic pilot while I'm in Hawaii. Aloha!

Tornado Skies

We had some severe weather on Wednesday. The tornado sirens were blaring and the sky turned black. Luckily everything was fine, but it was still sort of scary!

I'm off to Hawaii today, let's hope the skies stay clear for the travel! I am putting my blog on auto-pilot, but I may not have enough pictures for the whole week. I hope you'll enjoy what I do have though and see you when I get back!
