Another View

A different reflection from the same building as last week. I believe what you're seeing here is the back side of Jennings Hall.

Idyllic Friday

This picture was taken last Friday on the golf course. This is one of my favorite holes. It's a nice little par 3 over the water. And it looks fantastic when all the flowers are in bloom.

Happy Friday everyone! To see other skies from around the world, click on the skywatch link. I'll be out of town this weekend in Biloxi. Enjoy Jackson DP on autopilot.

Edible Dragon

My husband took me out to Sakura Bana last Friday after work. We enjoyed several sushi rolls, including this beautiful dragon. I assure you, he tasted as good as he looks!

Live Music

After the theater, my husband and I stopped at Underground 119 for some drinks. We were lucky to catch some live music too! The band was called The Juvenators, but the man pictured here playing the harmonica was just a dude from the audience who asked if he could sit in on a couple of songs. Very cool!

My live action shots may not be up to snuff with Olivier's from Evry yet, but I'm working on it. I don't think this band was used to people taking their picture, especially with my big Nikon. I felt like a paparazzi.

The Watch They Keep

My husband and I enjoyed some more theater this past weekend. We saw the world premiere of a new play written by a local writer. The Watch They Keep centered on a family whose matriarch has descended into the depths of Alzheimer's and the toll it takes on the family. It was well-written with both serious and light-hearted moments. I hope it will be seen outside of Mississippi soon!

Hawthorne

This is the first picture I've posted that was taken with the new Nikon D3000. These hawthornes are in my very own yard. It's the first time I've ever seen them bloom.

PS: I am having some design issues with my blog Here and There. I am testing out some new templates and I'd appreciate any input. To see the test design, click here. And leave a comment on the test post.

Reflections: Baptist Health Center

The Baptist Health Center is located on the Mississippi College campus. I pass this building every time I go to my German class and it always catches my eye. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I thought I'd stop to catch the window reflections.

Skywatch: Jury Duty

I was called for jury duty last week. Luckily, it hasn't been a full two years since I served on a jury and I was excused. As I was leaving, I got this wonderful shot of the courthouse with a blue, blue sky overhead. It was too pretty out to sit around judging someone anyway!

A Dip?

The hospital where I take the yoga class also has a lovely indoor pool. I've never actually swam there, but it looks like it would be heavenly with all the windows and skylights.

Azaleas and Parking

The azaleas are starting to bloom! The ones in my yard are ready to burst open at any moment, but I caught these outside the hospital where I take yoga. Lovely!

Alumni Hall

Another one of the impressive brick buildings on the MC campus. I love all the archways they have over the windows and doorways.

Gold Friend

A cute little goldfinch flew by to say hi! It's nice to be back in Jackson where the temp is up. Seattle was fun, but I wasn't too sad to leave the wet, cold weather. For that reason, I didn't get many photos but I'll put some up on my other blog when I finish my New York series.

Spring at the Golf

Yellow daffodils really brighten up the course. I wonder if these were planted here in a row on purpose or if they have just migrated. This little hill seems an odd place to plant a line of flowers, but it does look nice!

Hope you are enjoying Jackson DP on auto-pilot. I'll see you tomorrow!

Weekend Reflections: Chandelier

The chandelier inside Thalia Mara Hall made for a wonderful reflection.

Jennings Hall

This is where my German class is held at MC. All the buildings on campus are red brick like this one.

Happy weekend everyone! I'm in Seattle, but hope you are enjoying Jackson on auto-pilot.

April Theme Day: Red

A red bud tree in full bloom on the Mississippi College campus. I'm still keeping up with my German class every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I just hope it will come in handy one of these days.

I'm leaving for Seattle later this afternoon where I'll be testing my new Nikon D3000. Jackson DP will be on auto-pilot until Monday. Enjoy!

Confidential to my Granny - it's been sixteen years since we lost you, but you're still in my heart and memories.

Waiting

A lone woman waiting at the Thalia Mara Hall. Hope she did not get stood up for the Mahler concert!

Mahler's Resurrection

My husband and I went to the symphony this weekend. In honor of the Easter season, they played Mahler's Second Symphony - commonly known as the Resurrection Symphony. It was absolutely gorgeous! Chock full of drama and tension and musical beauty. The third movement included a choir of around 200 people and two soprano soloists. Fantastic!

Friend in the Water

It's too bad the water is so muddy, but you can see one of my golf friend's head poking up for some air!

What's Going On?

It seems like these birds just wanted to know what's going on with us. Or maybe they were upset because the feeder was empty!

Hope you are enjoying the weekend. Take a look at the new Sunday bridge series by Louis la Vache in San Francisco. I have featured a well-known bridge on my other blog Here and There.

Boar's Head

This was a hostess gift that someone brought to the Saint Patrick's Day party last weekend. It's sort of creepy, but funny.

Weekend Reflections: A Friend

If you look to the left, you'll see one of my friends getting some of the remaining sun from last Friday. I hope this weekend is going to live up to the forecasts so I can get out and enjoy some golf. And I usually see lots of friends like this one on the course!

Happy weekend! To see more reflections from around the world, click on the reflections link.

Sweet Lady

This is Ella. We're old friends from way back. Some friends of mine had a party last weekend to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and of course I would never say no to a party! Ella and her friend Beauregard patrolled the party to make sure everything stayed clean. But it was pretty tiring work and every lady needs a break!

PS: I finally broke down and bought a Nikon D3000 through Amazon. It should be on it's way this weekend and I hope to have it by Monday. As you can imagine, I'm pretty excited.

Weekend Theater

Since I couldn't make it to the golf course this weekend, I went to the theater instead! The New Stage acting interns put on a hilarious performance of Shakespeare Abridged. Seriously, I was rolling in the aisles laughing, it was that funny!

I can't claim proprietorship of this photo, it was a picture they were using to advertise. Although it's plain to see what's going on here - I'll explain the scene a bit. This is the scene where Hamlet meets his father's ghost on the ramparts: The left actor is the ghost, the middle actress is Hamlet and the actor on the right is the dude who was with Hamlet when he saw the ghost (can't remember his name, feel free to fill me in).

Music Please

There were two choices for music at the Crawfish Boil. Inside you got the blues-y cover band that you see here and outside was a louder crossover metal/rap band. I enjoyed both of them, although the outdoors music was a bit too loud for me.

Shuckers Crawfish Boil

I'm sorry to disappoint, but I didn't make it to the Saint Patrick's Day Parade this past weekend. But I found these pictures from the crawfish boil two weekends ago that I forgot to show!

We enjoyed some fresh-boiled crawfish, potatoes and corn-on-the-cob. And of course, some fresh oysters off the half-shell. There was also live music. I'll show you more of the fun tomorrow.

Close-up

A close-up of the pear blooms. Unfortunately the weather has taken a strange turn and it's rather cold today. There's even a chance for snow this afternoon! Looks like I won't be out on the fairways today, hopefully next week!

Golf under the Bradford Pears

I think the extra cold winter made the pear trees even more beautiful this year. I'm glad we're getting warmer temps now. My husband and I skipped the Friday after-work drinks yesterday for some Friday golf instead!

Skywatch Friday: King Edward

The King Edward Hotel was recently renovated and has re-opened under the Hilton umbrella of hotels. It has a very rich history going all the way back to the civil war. I hope to go in sometime to visit the lobby at least. But for now I hope you'll enjoy this outside view with bonus sky reflection.

Happy Friday everyone! Click on the skywatch link to see more skies from around the world.

Downtown

A view of sunny downtown Jackson. This weekend the big Saint Patrick's Day parade is set to take place. Hopefully it won't get rained out.
