Where's the Seed?

I've been thinking that my backyard birds were pretty hungry. Last week I was filling up my feeder almost every morning, only to come home later and find it devastated. Luckily my wingscapes camera showed me what was really going on. The damn squirrels have been eating all the food!

This is how he does it.

And this is the result... a poor hungry bird!

Squirrel by another name.. rat with a tail. Now over here in the UK we have cute squirrels, red ones.

I stopped fighting the squirrels a number of years ago and now just buy them unsalted peanuts and the birds don't bother them but will eat the peanuts that fall out of their shell.

Quite an unfriendly neighbor!

I know there's no way to keep them out. They figure out a way to get past all the baffles and whatnot. Maybe I will try putting out some other food for the squirrels only.

Sometimes the mockingbirds will chase them away. I love it when that happens!

You just can't win against those damn rodents. Feed 'em or shoot 'em.

Maybe I should send Guthrie Gull over to sort things out.

They are squirrel feeders not bird feeders. We have the same problem.
