A photographic look at life in Jackson, Mississippi and the surrounding area
Gator Castle
I actually don't know what kind of animals were "living" in this castle. I can tell you this, the moat surrounding it was filled with alligators. Hope whoever the residents were got along well with the gators!
Well, when I was a child in Jackson, that was the monkey house -- the castle was filled with monkeys. I think they eventually became sick and died off -- they moved the monkeys to their present display, near the entrance. After the monkeys, I believe there were many flamingos there. Interesting now that its the domain of alligators!
MK: Thanks for the explanation. In other sad news, the elephants were also sold to the Memphis zoo in summer 2010. The zoo just couldn't afford their upkeep anymore. This zoo probably won't be around forever.

cela doit etre efficace des alligators en tant que chien de garde, cela doit faire fuir les voleurs ;)

Pretty place, but I sure don't like gators!
J'ai une sainte trouille des alligators !
That is pretty unusual. I wonder what the story is.

What a lovely castle for gators!
It's a fairy tale setting, waiting for a legend to be spun about the place.
Not for me...

That is a castle I will not visit! Good for safekeeping though...
