A photographic look at life in Jackson, Mississippi and the surrounding area
Capitol Building Statue
This was taken at the grounds of Jackon Capitol. This remarkable statue stands here in memory of the ladies, mothers, sisters, wives and daughters of the Confederate soldiers.
It is a remarkable sculpture. I have seen pictures before and I like theis one.
Regarding your comment on my blog: Yes indeed those skulls are real. My daughter lives on a huge cattle. Everything is done on horseback so riding all day across the land they find all kind of treasure and artifacts. these being among them. they have hundreds of skulls and they love finding deer sheds. cette statue est un bel hommage aux femmes
This is the 150 year anniversary of the Civil War.
I dropped by from "The Dreaming Tree." I love statuary. WE have some great ones in New Orleans.
I like your angle on the statue.
Well, Halcyon said it... the angle on this shot is superbe! The blue sky background adds to the contrast of the dark bronze statue.

How much weight they are forced to carry, to bare.
A nice mean to measure time and life.
Please have you all a good Tuesday.

Welcome to our CDP blog friends. What a lovely piece and how nice that the women are honored.

Very striking!
Yes, this is a strong bronze sculpture, and your angle stresses the strength.
