Bye bye Jackson

Today would have been my four year bloggiversary with Jackson Daily Photo. Here's a look at some the last shots I took of my former home back in June.

It is with a heavy heart that I am shutting this photo blog down. Four years ago my then boyfriend (later husband) asked me if I wanted to move from Paris, France to Jackson, Mississippi. I didn't think I could ever enjoy life in the Deep South as much as I did in the Old World, but I did. It was a wonderful place to spend four years and I don't regret the decision we made. Now it's on to Toronto!

Edited to add: After almost three years in Canada, we have moved back to the Old World. Come visit me at my new Berlin Blog.

Remembering 9/11.......

Remembering 9/11 in wake of Osama Bin Laden's death. Found this memorial while taking a leisurely walk at Strawberry Park in Jackson.

"Saw the Eagle fly, through a clear, blue sky"

Clear Sky and the Golden Eagle... represents freedom. Freedom considered as a birth right, is a privilege which people who have it take for granted. When I see other people fighting for this very right, I realize how blessed some of us are.

Black and White Capitol building

Sorry guys for not being regular for last couple of weeks. I was traveling for a bit and when I came back I got sick too.. Anyway hope to come up new pictures and a new look for this Blog pretty soon!..

Multi-Colored Blooms

These are the same kind of flower I showed you on Wednesday, just in a different mix of color.

Beads a Flying!

I amassed plenty of beads during the parade. We were right on the front row and I was hoping to get a shot of some in mid-air headed towards me. I didn't get that shot, but here's this one.

Groovy Girl

The next installment in the parade series. Groovy girl was having a good time!

Potato Truck

As seen at the Saint Patrick's Day parade. This was one of the funnier floats.

I had to include both shots!

More Garden Flowers

More beautiful flowers from my garden back in Jackson. I'm not sure what these are called but they come in a variety of colors.

Azaleas

My azaleas were out in full force just before I left Jackson. Looking at my last photos of them is cheering somehow.

Flag Man

After Hoopla Girl, you now see Flag Man. He didn't generate the same response from the crowd (open-mouthed gazers), but he was still an interesting figure.

Hoopla Girl

Hoopla girl is the center of attraction of the picture but don't overlook the face expression on the guy standing at the back. :P

Blues Man

The theme of this year's St Patrick's Day Parade was the blues. The Mississippi Blues Commission had this artist out there walking. I don't know his name, but he looks the part of a blues man and I'm sure he plays it well too!

Po in a Row

The Saint Patrick's Day parade is probably the only time you're happy to see a state trooper. I must admit, they looked good on their bikes and did some impressive moves!

Snoop on the Cell

Last night a group of friends (including Halcyon and Dreamer's Click) went to see Snoop Dogg in downtown Jackson. The show didn't disappoint! Here's a look at the artist as captured from Dreamer's Click's cell phone. Good times, good times!

Festive Reflection

Reflection capturing the festive mood of people of Jackson at the St. Paddy's Parade.
