Walker's Drive-In

One of Jackson's most beloved restaurants. This is the waiting area, believe me it can get full!

Here's a link to their website. Their menu is quite varied, but focuses mainly on fish dishes.

Sandhill Crane

A crane from the Jackson zoo. Apparently he likes our weather.

Bright Beauty

The weather this past weekend was not quite what I hoped for, but we did have some blue skies. These colorful flowers remind me that spring is just around the corner!

Gator Castle

I actually don't know what kind of animals were "living" in this castle. I can tell you this, the moat surrounding it was filled with alligators. Hope whoever the residents were got along well with the gators!

Zoo Bridge

One section of the Jackson Zoo consists of a sort of causeway that takes you through the animal areas. Here's a look at the tail end of it.

Olga's Bench

Another look at Olga's restaurant. She is kind enough to provide a cozy sitting area for patrons who have to wait for a table. It's nice, but I still prefer the bar!

Blue Skies

It's been so cold here lately, so I'm looking back on some skies from last November. I'm hoping we get some blue and warmer temps this weekend as well.

Cold Friend

I've been putting out extra food for my feathered friends during these cold times. The juncos seem to be taking advantage.

Doorway to Knowledge

The doorway to the Warren Hood Library on the Belhaven campus. I have a dear friend who works here. I am a little ashamed to say I've never actually been inside though. Maybe I'll have to change that. What do you say dear friend?

Icy Bug

The Halcyon Bug got a few icicles during the ice storm Sunday night. This is how my car looked on Monday morning. I know those of you up north are probably laughing, but these are big icicles for the south!

No Aping Around

A shot from the Jackson Zoo. I almost forgot I had these photos. I visited on Thanksgiving day when my family was here from Oklahoma City. It's a nice little zoo, the perfect place to work up an appetite for a turkey dinner!

Icy Weather

The weather people were predicting ice, snow and all kinds of wintery stuff for Jackson today. It has been cold and rainy as you can see from these mini-icicles which formed in my backyard. I don't think we're going to be inundated with the white stuff though. Too bad, I was hoping for a work-at-home day tomorrow.

Bench Details

A close-up of the bench I showed you a few days ago. The details look especially nice in black and white.

Blue Skies at Last

After so much gray in Berlin, it was nice to see some shiny, blue skies in Davos! It's been raining quite a bit here in Jackson, but it hasn't been cold. I'm a little short on Jackson photos at the moment, so I hope you won't mind me cheating a bit with a few shots from my latest travels.

Beautiful Bench

This one is pretty fancy, especially for a bench on a college campus. You can find it at Belhaven College and it looks like a nice place to rest on a warm day!

Back in Jackson

I'm back to action in Jackson, where I won't be seeing any more of this stuff! It feels like I've been away from home for much longer than just three weeks. It's certainly good to be back though. I enjoyed the snow, but enough is enough!

Thank you again for all the kind comments, thoughts and support you have given. It really means a lot to me. 2011 is going to be a year of big changes, but all for the good. More details will be coming soon (I hope!).

Happy New Year!

A look at the Charlottenburg Castle decorated for the holidays! I wish all my readers joy and good health in 2011.

Another Feathered Friend

A colorful tit in my MiL's yard. He and his friends come often to her feeder for treats. He looks especially nice against the white snow.

Texture

Ice on a tree in Berlin. I like the mix of different textures.

Red Friend

I usually do not like squirrels, but I have to admit these red ones with tufty ears are pretty cute. I also caught this one at the feeder in my MiL's backyard, it was also taken with my new zoom.

Confidential to my husband: Happy Birthday!!!

Jay Bird

A Eurasian Jay seen at the feeder at my MiL's house. This photo was taken with my new zoom lens. Not too bad, eh?

Season's Greetings

Holiday candles help warm you up a bit on a cold, snowy evening. Our Christmas was cheery despite the recent death of my FiL. My husband and I will spend New Year's in Davos, Switzerland with friends. I hope to get loads of lovely photos with my new lens Santa brought me for Christmas.

PS: We also got fast internet with WiFi for my MiL, so now I can surf a little more often when we come to Berlin!

Christmas in Berlin

A quick look at the winter weather in Berlin. This shot came from my MiL's window into the street that runs in front of her house. Certainly a change from the moderate climate in Jackson, MS.

Thank you again for all your kind words and thoughts. My best wishes to you this Chrismas!

Belhaven Caf

The Belhaven campus also has a really nice looking cafeteria. Very modern!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to set up this blog for any more posts this year. I just didn't have time before leaving for Germany. I have my travel blog set up in the meantime for you to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words and thoughts. It's going to be a sad holiday season, but it's nice to know that we have lots of people thinking of us and sending good energy.

Sky and Temple

Another view of the Hindu Temple of Jackson against the blue, blue sky. I got some sad news this week, my father-in-law passed away. My husband and I had planned to spend the holidays in Germany, but now we'll just be leaving a little earlier.

I am going to try to set up as many automatic postings as I can, but there may be some dry days. I'll try to check in when I can, but my MiL does not have fast internet at home, so we'll see. Until then, I wish all of my "virtual" friends a very happy holiday season and all the best in the New Year!

White Hall

Here's another look at White Hall from yesterday's photo. The back side is not quite as welcoming, but it's still a nice building.

Doorway to White Hall

You can find some really nice doorways on the Belhaven campus. I like this entrance into White Hall.

I may not always have a nice doorway to show, but Ciel over in Versailles brings us a treat every Wednesday!

Titmouse

I haven't seen this friend at my feeder for quite some time. But he stopped by recently for a little snack.

Unknown Flora

I don't know what the name of this plant/flower is, but it's very pretty!

Elephant Detail

Another detail from the Hindu Temple of Jackson. Elephants are one of my favorite animals.
