This was taken at the grounds of Jackon Capitol. This remarkable statue stands here in memory of the ladies, mothers, sisters, wives and daughters of the Confederate soldiers.

Memorial Bench
A bench honoring someone's loved one. There are plenty of these around the Pearl River walking trail and each design is different. I think it's a nice way to remember someone.
Rodeo time!

Last week we had a Rodeo show at Mississippi State Fairgrounds. This picture was taken at Fort Worth, Tx though. Initially, I took multiple shots of the scene at a faster shutter speed to get the image sharp and nice. But then I felt that there was so much activity in the scene, which the still picture was unable to communicate. After multiple trials, I could finally get it to my liking. Please let me know if you guys like it and share your ideas too.
æroplane

A flight that took off from Madison Flyers (a flying school in Madison, MS). I will click a picture of the school itself with all the small air planes parked in line.
Found an interesting blog with pictures from Birmingham Airport, UK.
Raised Pathway
A raised pathway at the Pearl River walking trail. A lovely spot to spend a weekend afternoon!

Former Elephant House
The Jackson Zoo formerly had a small herd of elephants, but unfortunately they were sold to the Memphis Zoo last summer. A zoo seems a little lonely without elephants, but this restaurant is still there. Although I think they should change the name!
I'm going to be in Toronto all next week to check things out. I have started working on a new city blog. Please take a look at the test run and let me know what you think. Have a great weekend!

Home for Sale !
Toucan Sam?
Another feathered friend from our local zoo. I'm not sure if he answers to the name Sam or not. Perhaps I will ask him on my next visit.

PS: Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Block Bench
Another shot from the Jackson Zoo. They have a wide variety of seating options. This bench is in a nice shady spot, which visitors certainly appreciate during the hot and sunny summer months in Jackson!
Pull up a Seat
These colorful chairs must be a nice place to sit in the warmer months. You can find them outside my favorite bagelry, the Beagle Bagel in Ridgeland. The reflections in the window are a bonus!

Doorway to Light
This door will take you into one of our local lighting shops. You can find all kinds of lamps and light fixtures there, although most of them are a little too fancy for my taste.
To see a beautiful French doorway, visit Ciel in Versailles.
White Birds
A pair of lovely birds as seen at the Jackson Zoo. Unfortunately I don't remember what type they are. Please feel free to leave their name in the comments, if you know what they are. To see more birds from around the world, visit Bird Freak.
I'm going to be out of town this week at a conference. Dreamer's Click will be posting some images and I've got a few scheduled as well. And don't forget my Travel Blog. It'll be up and running all week!
Sun Facing the Sun

Thanks to my dear friend Halcyon for letting me continue her blog. Hope you all like Jackson through my eyes.
Today's picture is titled "Sun facing the Sun". These pansies look so alive after surviving the harsh weather conditions we had in Jackson over the last few days...so are the people of Jackson...
Pond Reflections
Reflections of a beautiful blue sky, with a pelican and a couple of birds as a bonus!

Remembering Blue Skies
Blue skies! I wish we had more of these lately. The weather has been so strange - cold, warm, - warm, cold - just make up your mind.
Happy weekend everyone! To see more skies from around the world, visit Skywatch.
Arched Doorway
One of the many beautiful arched doorways at the Fondren Presbyterian Church. The light was beautiful on this day. To see a beautiful French doorway, please visit Ciel in Versailles.
February Theme Day: Fountains
This one comes to you from the Jackson Zoo, complete with beautiful fall colors! I've been using some shots from the archives because I've been busy lately with other occupations, like home improvements!
Remember back at the first of the month, I said there was some big news in the works, well here it is... I'm moving to Toronto in March! But don't get too sad yet, JDP will live on under the guidance of my friend, Dreamer's Click. He will be doing some guest posts in February to get the hang of things and sometime after he'll take over full time.
I'm very excited about the new adventures ahead of me. There are still a few hurdles to overcome (like selling a house), but I am looking forward to good times in Canada. And hopefully I'll find time to open a daily photo blog up there too!
Happy theme day everyone. To see more fountains from around the world, click here. I've also got a bonus fountain shot on my travel blog.
Migration
I woke up the other day to find a flock of migrating blackbirds taking a rest in my backyard and the yard across the street. They were quite timid though. As soon as I brought my camera out, they flew away. Hope they make it to their final destination!

Catwalk
A working bridge near the Pearl River walking trail. I'm not sure what or who walks up there, but I think it has something to do with the water treatment plant that's a few miles up the road.

Bushy Bench
I am a bit worried that tropical bush thingy might one day take this bench over, but I guess the Jackson Zoo staff makes sure plenty of seating is available for everyone.
